Founded by Ashely Whelan, Lift Weights Lift Spirits was born out of a passion for serving and uplifting our local Tampa Bay community. We tailor fitness programs to meet your unique goals, regardless of your age or fitness level. Our approach starts with helping you move well. From there, we encourage you to move often.

Hi, I'm Ashely.

I’ve been passionate about movement since childhood. Growing up a competitive dancer, I discovered early on the value of hard work and the power of discipline to transform both body and mind. This dedication led me to a professional career in dance, performing with respected companies and in commercial productions.

Dancing’s physical demands pushed me to find sustainable ways to care for my body and maintain longevity in my movement. Now, more than twelve years later, that foundation shapes every class I teach and every client I coach.

My education spans strongman training, bodybuilding, mobility and flow, corrective exercise, pre- and postnatal training, and adaptive training for those with unique needs (e.g. amputees, athletes with short stature, those on the spectrum, and individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries.) I’ve also developed expertise in steel mace flow, kettlebell work, and powerlifting.

I am especially passionate about my work in pre- and postnatal training, helping clients move safely, confidently, and with intention through every stage of motherhood. As a mom, I have a personal understanding of what it means to train through pregnancy, postpartum, and the realities of parenthood; children are always welcome, and programs are built with that season of life in mind.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: movement should make your life better. Age should never be seen as a barrier; the only true limits are the ones we place on ourselves. My goal is simply to help you discover that you are capable of far more than you ever imagined.

Where We Train

We operate out of CrossFit Hyde Park in Tampa, Florida, using the space independently to offer in-person training and group classes with a wide range of tools and equipment. For those not nearby, our online and hybrid options make it easy to train from anywhere. We’ve helped clients around the world achieve their goals, proof that our impact goes far beyond brick and mortar.
